Was Jesus really born on the 25th of December?

Written by

Christians celebrate the birth of Jesus on the 25th of December. What proof do they have of this? In reality, however, we actually do not know if Jesus was indeed born on that day. We can only guess that the day may have been chosen because traditionally, it was a Roman pagan holiday, the birthday of the unconquered Sun God, Sol. December 25 is the date after the Winter Solstice, when we experience the days to begin lengthening from the shortest day of winter.

Immaculate Conception

Written by

The doctrine of Immaculate Conception is distinct from Virginal Conception. Virginal Conception tells us that Mary was a virgin before and after, the birth of Jesus. Immaculate Conception, on the other hand, says that Mary herself was conceived 'normally', through sexual intercourse, but for some 'Immaculate' reason or method, her 'genes' did not inherit the Original Sin that humans are supposed to inherit from Adam.

The Virgin Birth of Jesus

Written by

The Virgin Birth of Jesus is a religious tenet of Christianity and Islam which holds that Mary miraculously conceived Jesus while remaining a virgin. In other words, Jesus was conceived without a father, no sexual intercourse, no male seed. He just happened by way of a 'miracle', by The Holy Spirit.

Of course, scientifically, we know of no other incidient where it is possible for a human female falling pregnant with a human male. Like many religious beliefs, we are expected to just accept it as true.

Is Jesus The Son Of God or Not?

Written by
Christians believe that Jesus is the Son of God. But this belief is directly contradicted by Muslims, saying that Jesus was a mere mortal. He was just a prophet like all the other prophets.

Is Trinitarianism true or not?

Written by

Many Christians including Roman Catholics, Anglicans and many Protestants, believe in the concept of Trinitarianism. They believe that God the Father, is the same as God the Son, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. They argue that they are separate Beings, yet insist that they are One.

Yet other religions, including Islam and even members of other Christian churches see this as a form of Polytheism, not Monotheism. These non-trinitarianists include Christadelphians, Jehovah's Witnesses, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and Unitarians.

Did God rest on the Sabbath or not?

Written by

The Christians say that God rested on the seventh day, that is why many of us observe Sunday as a rest day. According to the third of the Ten Commandments:

Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. Six days you shall labour and do all your work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your manservant or maidservant, nor your animals, nor the alien within your gates. For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but he rested on the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.

Yet such a doctrine so important for Christians, is directly contradicted by Islamic doctrine. Muslims do not believe that God rested. Indeed, why would an almighty being need rest? Are gods like us, made of flesh and blood, who puff and need resting with physical activities?

When Is The Sabbath Day?

Written by

According to the third of the Ten Commandments:

Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. Six days you shall labour and do all your work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your manservant or maidservant, nor your animals, nor the alien within your gates. For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but he rested on the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.

The Bible provides an example to true followers of its faith, commanding them what they need to do if someone does not obey this rule:

While the Israelites were in the desert, a man was found gathering wood on the Sabbath day. Those who found him gathering wood brought him to Moses and Aaron and the whole assembly, and they kept him in custody, because it was not clear what should be done to him.

Then the Lord said to Moses, "The man must die. The whole assembly must stone him outside the camp." So the assembly took him outside the camp and stoned him to death, as the Lord commanded Moses.

- Numbers 15:32-36

If there is such a thing as a Sabbath Day, that special day which God has chosen for us to worship, then what day is it?

To many Christians, the Sabbath day is Sunday.Yet to Seventh-Day Adventists, they insist that the Sabbath Day is Saturday.

To Muslims however, it is Friday:

O you who believe, when the Congregational Prayer (Salat Al-Jumu`ah) is announced on Friday, you shall hasten to the commemoration of GOD, and drop all business.

- Koran 62:9

Obviously, the Sabbath Day is very important if a man can be killed for not observing it. Yet even here, religions do not agree on such an important detail.
